Parental Engagement

AU Early Head Start Volunteer Program

AU Early Head Start encourages parents and community members to get involved in the program by volunteering whenever possible. Volunteering provides an opportunity to observe child development and support classroom activities. Volunteers also provide valuable assistance to the program. Time spent volunteering is considered a donation, and AU Early Head Start receives “in-kind” credits for volunteer hours. Please contact your child’s provider and FACES worker to determine ways you can help. Before volunteering, your child’s provider and FACES worker will review a “Volunteering Form” and have you complete the required paperwork.

Purpose: To provide interaction with children and adults to support skill-building and contribute to classroom activities.

Meetings will be held to elect officers for the Parent Committee, conducted by conference call ten times during the year on dates determined by the committee.

POLICY COUNCIL

The Policy Council supports planning and implementation of the Early Head Start program. Meetings are held once per month via conference call at times determined by Policy Council members. There are three representatives and three alternates for the Auburn University Early Head Start Program.
